About T Shea Ltd - Waste Recycling Leeds
T Shea & Sons diversified away from Civil Engineering in 1994, as a
result of the Quarry Tax being introduced, and as the market for Recycled
Aggregates began to take off.
A modest Waste
Transfer site was established in Stourton, Leeds.
With our modern fleet of tipper wagons and on-site plant, the business
flourished, taking in Demolition
Waste and Construction
Waste from the Leeds area, which would previously have
been sent to landfill, and, by crushing and screening, converting it
into a reusable Recycled
Aggregate.
In 1999, we moved to our present 5 1/2 acre licensed Waste
Transfer Station at Cross Green, where we continue to grow
and develop our services to the local construction industry, supply
tipping facilities and delivery or ex-works collection of our recycled,
certified aggregates and as dug topsoil.
The natural progression has been to construct a large purpose built
waste recycling sorting bay (See the "Recycling Facility"
page), obtain a modification to our license to accept inert and bio-degradable
waste, and set up Cross
Green Skips, to open our facilities to a much wider clientele,
dealing with smaller quantities.
All materials brought to site are sorted and either transformed into
reusable recycled products for the construction industry, through screening
and crushing. Or they are sorted into timber, card/paper, metals for
waste recycling purposes.
Only a tiny percentage is sent for landfill.
